Lower 48 Solitaire
Lower 48 is played with two standard decks (104 cards). There are eight tableaus that contain five cards each. The objective is to build the eight foundations up by suit from Ace to King.
Odds of winning: Very High
Win about 4 in 5 games (80%).
Skill Level: Mostly Skill
Winning is mostly determined by skill. A small amount of luck is involved.
How to Play Lower 48
Game Objective
Move all cards to the eight foundations.
Foundation Rules
- There are eight foundations.
- An Ace may move to an empty foundation.
- The foundations build up by the same suit.
- For example the 4♠ may move onto the 3♠ and the 4♦ may move onto the 3♦. Starting with the 4♦ the following sequence can build on top 5♦ 6♦ 7♦ 8♦.
Tableau Rules
- There are eight tableaus.
- Any card may move to an empty tableau.
- The tableaus build down by alternating colors.
- For example the J♠ may move onto the Q♦ and the J♥ may move onto the Q♣. Starting with the J♥ the following sequence can build on top 10♠ 9♦ 8♣.
- The top card is movable.
Stock Rules
- A single redeal of the waste back into the stock is permitted. Allowing for two complete passes through the stock.
- The stock deals one card face up to the waste when tapped.
Waste Rules
- There is one waste.
- The top card is movable.
